Terms of Use

These terms cover the Pause iPhone app and this website. They are written to be readable — please read them before you use Pause.

Effective date: July 28, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By downloading, installing or using the Pause app, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use Pause.

2. What Pause is for

Pause is a digital-wellbeing tool that places an intentional step in front of apps you choose, so that opening them becomes a decision rather than a reflex.

Pause is not a medical device and is not a treatment for any medical or psychological condition. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any illness. If you are concerned about your relationship with technology or your wellbeing, please speak to a qualified professional.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pause. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Pause only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms.

4. Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the settings you configure, including which apps you select.
  • You are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID secure.
  • You should not rely on Pause for anything safety-critical, or to guarantee that you cannot reach a particular app.
  • You are responsible for the content of any Past Self message you record.

5. Screen Time and device permissions

Pause relies on Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks. Granting Screen Time authorization is required for app-selection features to work, and camera and microphone permission are required to record a Past Self message.

You may revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Doing so will limit or disable the related features. How and when the system applies restrictions is determined by iOS, and behaviour may change with future iOS releases.

6. Paid subscriptions

Pause Pro has not launched. When paid features become available, they will be sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the Apple App Store.

Prices shown on this website are planned launch pricing and may change before release. The price, billing period and any trial terms shown in the App Store and inside the app at the time of purchase are the ones that apply.

7. Free trials

Any free trial we offer will be described in the App Store listing and in the app before you subscribe, including its length, what happens when it ends, and whether Apple requires a payment method to start it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription may convert to a paid period in line with Apple’s subscription rules.

8. Cancellation

You can cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings under your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

9. Refunds

Purchases made through the App Store are subject to Apple’s refund policy and are handled by Apple, not by us. Refund requests can be made at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong on our side, tell us at annamoni2011@gmail.com and we will help where we can.

10. Intellectual property

Pause, including its software, name, ghost mark, interface design and written content, is owned by its developer and is protected by intellectual-property law. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Pause for your own purposes. Anything you create in the app, such as a Past Self recording, remains yours.

11. Prohibited use

  • Do not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute Pause, except where the law expressly allows it.
  • Do not use Pause to monitor, control or restrict another person without their knowledge and consent.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the app, this website or the systems they depend on.
  • Do not use Pause in a way that breaks any applicable law or Apple's terms.

12. Availability and changes to the service

Pause is under active development. Features described as planned or in development may change, be delayed or be dropped. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the app or website, and we may stop supporting older iOS versions or devices.

13. Disclaimer

Pause is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that Pause will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will intercept every app launch, or that it will produce any particular change in your habits.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of Pause. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Termination

You may stop using Pause at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or use Pause in a way that harms other people or the service.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Pause develops. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continuing to use Pause after an update means you accept the revised terms.

17. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to annamoni2011@gmail.com. See also the Privacy Policy and the support page.
